Community Media Network NW/W Region Launched
The Cameroon Community Media Network (CCMN) for the N.W and West region has been launched. This was during a one day meeting that took place at the Presbyterian Church Centre, Ntamulung, Bamenda involving journalists from the two aforementioned regions. Speaking on behalf of the Rev. Mokoko Mbue Thomas, P.C.C National Communication Secretary, Roseline Obah welcomed and thanked all present for answering to the invitation. She wished the deliberations bear sweet and juicy fruits. For hours, participants brainstormed and chatted a way forward on the functioning modalities of the network.
Alexander Vojda is the Community Manager, C.B.S Radio Buea cum Civil Peace Service Seconded Personnel. Schooling the media men and women on Community Media, Peace Journalism and Election Reporting, he disclosed that in as much as professionals want to be neutral and fair in their reports, all journalists are embedded in their values, beliefs, cultures and ideologies.
Ndi Tsembom Elvis, journalist with Rush FM Bamenda, quizzed on lessons drawn started by first appreciating the PCC's Communication Department for the initiative. Then he continued, "I must say that we have a lot of elections in Cameroon this year, and that there are politicians that will come out to campaign. Today, we've learnt how to be impartial in our reports as journalists. Our role is to inform the population and allow them make choices"
The meeting ended with members fully bestowing their confidence on Roseline Obah, Station Manager, C.B.S Radio Bamenda and Chapter President, CAMASEJ N.W to lead the network.
