Celebrating Valentine's Day in Mbengwi, Africa Petroleum Workers Set the Pace

Every 14 February is celebrated world wide as Saint Valentine's Day or Lover's Day. Unfortunately, the origin of the day is not understood by many who celebrate it today. I'm sure the founder of the day should himself be very much dissatisfied with the way today's celebrants misunderstand the motives behind Val's Day. Though many have turned it into a day of errotic love, cheating, drunkenness, excessive spendings, sex, heartbreaks, and the like, they are a few who still give the day the meaning it deserves. Such, be them individuals or groups visit orphanages, homes for the physically challenged, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, house the homeless and commune with loved ones. Some organize gift exchange exercises. Many persons today have dresses, shoes, kitchen utensils and other items that were offered to them on V. Day through exchange of gifts.

Among the few who genuinely celebrated Valentines Day in Mbengwi were workers of Africa Petroleum Filling Station. For the very first time, they invited their customers for a common meal. Present among other dignitaries were the Divisional Officer, Aminkeng Charles Formin  and the Brigade Commander, Patouki Pierre. The Africa Petroleum workers used the forum to decorate their boss, the proprietor, Mr. Samuel Achu Njinda in traditional regalia. The manager of the filling station, Mr James Buh used the dinner session to thank his coworkers for loving their job despite the challenges they encounter. He promised that better days lie ahead as management seeks to probe into their problems.
The workers also exchanged gifts among themselves. From the car washer to the dry cleaner, from the guard to the proprietor, all were present to wine and dine a common meal. The evening ended with merry making till dawn
