In September 2020, the Anglican Diocese of Cameroon under the stewardship of the Right Reverend Bishop Dibo Thomas Elango saw need to establish an educational establishment for the offering of complete basic education from Nursery 1 to Class 6 in Njinmecho, Mile 20, Mbengwi Subdivision.

This was in the heart of the ongoing Anglophone Crisis when schools had been banned from functioning. By then, the proponents of school boycott had shifted position from a complete school shutdown to allowing mission and community schools to function.

The Njinmecho area plus her neighbouring communities like Zem, Njinenong, Njinibi, Nyen, Turukoh, Tonmukomo and Barakwe hadn't any such school. Pupils here that could t relocate for studies elsewhere became stranded for years. Having long established an Anglican church in the area, the need was thus identified to also establish a school.

That is how the community and the church collaborated to bring the school to existence. In the first year, the school had pupils. In 2021, the enrolment rose to 61 and 72 in 2022 with great expectation that in the 2023/2024 academic year, the enrolment will again increase as the school is gaining grounds.

On Saturday June 3rd 2023, the graduation and prize award ceremony of the 3rd batch of Nursery 2 pupils and 2nd batch of Primary 6 pupils was held on the school campus, doubling as the church house in Njinmecho. In her welcome address, the Head Mistress, Madam Bakia Beltha Eyeb epouse Mbullah appreciated all who've been supporting the school to grow to higher heights.

She particularly thanked Pa Ayaba David and family for providing a structure in which the Primary section will be functioning from now onward and Mr. Awah Rene for not only being behind the school from day one, providing them didactic materials but also assisting in the teaching process, same as Rev. Hilary Mbullah Tah that's been taking on the class 5 and 6 pupils free of charge.

It is for these reasons and more that the school has been recording resounding success in public exams though it's not all been rosy as challenges like inconvenient location, poor enrolment in the primary section, poor staffing and financial challenges stemming from non payment of fees by most parents have been plaguing the school all this while.

"However, despite all these challenges, the teachers and administration are doing their best to ensure the smooth running of the school" said the Head Teacher. To achieve these expected good results, she revealed that next academic year, some changes will be made at the level of fees staff placement and structural organisation of the classrooms.

Activities like rhymes, singing, speeches, drama and traditional dance characterised the graduation ceremony that ended with the award of prizes, testimonials and reports cards. St. Mark's Anglican Nursery and Primary School, Mile 20 is the newest in basic education Family of Mbengwi subdivision.
